The Edinburgh Circle of Magic was formed in 1923 by James Patrick, Allan Jamieson, W. Scott, Robert Sellers, Hugh Mackay, Robert Adams and W Adams.

Their membership was restricted to nine members with no officers, the members paid no membership fees, and the club had no library.

Mackay and Jamieson would become members of the Council of Nine in 1927.[1]
