It's Magic!

It's Magic! is an annual all-star magic revue, first produced by Milt Larsen, with the help of Ollie Berliner, in 1956[1].

Still enjoying a continuous run, the revue is now co-produced by Terry Hill. Various editions of the show have played in performing arts centers from Bellingham, Washington, to San Diego.

The first show in 1956 was at the Carthay Circle Theater in West Los Angeles was originally called "Hocus Pocus". They decided to change it to "It's Magic" by the following year. [2]

After a long run at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, it was moved to the Variety Arts Theatre in 1977. After numerous editions at the Variety Arts, the show went on hiatus for a few years following the 1984 production. [3]

In 1994, the City of Glendale, asked theatrical producer Terry Hill to bring shows into its restored Alex Theater. Terry, a longtime member of the Magic Castle, approached Milt Larsen with the idea of bringing back It's Magic! [4]

At times there were multiple shows per year.[5]

The first show on January 28, 1956 at the Carthay Circle Theater starred: Aubrey & Co., Phil Bauer, The Chaudets, Evelyn Russell, Geraldine Larsen, Harry Mendoza, Tenkai & Okinu, Chop Chop & Charlene.

The September 17, 2006 Edition at the Variety Arts Theater, which they billed as their 50th year, starred: Jason Alexander, Lance Burton, Jeff McBride, Rich Bloch, Julianna Chen, Kevin James, Michael Finney, Mark Kalin & Jinger, Dimmare, Passing Zone, The Pendragons, Mac King, Jason Latimer, Rick Thomas, Darren Romeo & Gay Blackstone, Siegfried[6]
