Larry Jones (1926-2003), a lawyer, performed as Baron LaValle and once performed on The Ed Sullivan Show. He lived most of his life in Louisville, Kentucky, where he was a judge and attorney.

Biography

Jones first became interested in magic as a teenager living in New York in the early 1940s. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1942 through 1944 and then in the Marine Corps from 1948 to 1950 where he also did shows for the troops.

He received a law degree from the University of Virginia in 1953 and moved to Louisville, Kentucky to join a law firm. It was at this time that he began using the stage name of Baron LaValle. With his success on the Ed Sullivan Show, he was booked for three appearances on the Captain Kangaroo Show.

When he was in his 60s, and still practicing law, Jones opened the Squirrelly's Tea Room in downtown Louisville where he designed a 75-seat magic theater upstairs. He became known as Captain Squirrelly performing a burlesque magic show on a regular basis.[1]
