Magic Academy of Sweden

Magic Academy of Sweden, a former Magic Organization that was started by Dr. Nils Simonson in Stockholm, December 8 1962, and consisted of eighteen Swedish Magicians.[1]

The stated goal and purpose for the Academy was to advance the Swedish art of magic, through lectures, discussions and intellectual exchange between the members. To further the artistic level of Swedish magic by being role models, and to raise the public appreciation for magic.

This was accomplished by meeting at restaurants for dinner, where everyone was obliged to show one trick each.

The last meeting of the Academy was held at Hotel Reisen in Stockholm, February 6 1982. Only eight members turned up, and due the lack of interest it was decided to make the Academy dormant for 5 years. It never became active again.

In 1996, Bertil Fredström attempted to bring the Academy to life again, without any luck.
