Steve Belchou is best known as the original creator of what was called "The Poker Player's Picnic" in Royal Road to Card Magic.

Biography

Belchou's trick, which became "The Poker Player's Picnic", was first described in the "Themes and Schemes" column of Dragon, Vol. 8, No. 6, (June 1939, page 7). In the previous issue (May 1939) the same basic trick was published under the title "The Million to One Trick", with Steve's name misspelled as Belchan (which was cleared up in the October issue) It states that he is from Mount Vernon, New York.

The March 1957 Linking Ring announces him joining the I.B.M., stating he is still living in of Mount Vernon, New York.

The M-U-M for April 1969 welcomes him to the S.A.M. and joining the Northern New Jersey Assembly No. 25 and is now living in Fair Lawn, New Jersey.

In August 1981 Linking Ring, commemorates receives his 25 consecutive years of membership by naming him to the Order of Merlin.
