Vernon Touch

(Redirected from The Vernon Touch)

The Vernon Touch was the name of Dai Vernon's column in Genii, The Conjurors' Magazine. Vernon originally wanted to call the column "The Cranky Old Man of Magic", which ran from 1968 until 1990. He recorded his thoughts on hundreds of different magicians he saw perform from all around the world and gives advice on the creation and presentation of magic.

Vernon submitted his columns to Genii, often procrastinating until the last minute, when Bill Larsen would corner him and plead with him to write it. He would sometimes submit them hand written, recording some of them for Bill to transcribe and even on the back of Magic Castle place-mats.

The columns were put together in a hardcover book of the same name, with hundreds of photographs of Vernon and friends, published by Genii Books in 2006.
