Vanishing Elephant is a stage effect where a live elephant instantly disappears.

It was created by Charles Morritt (as the Disappearing Donkey) and first performed with an elephant (2 ton "Jennie", advertised as 5 tons) by Houdini in 1918 at the Hippodrome in New York city.
