Scaratika is the Magic Periodical for the Sheffield Circle of Magicians. The earliest issues were edited by William Andrew, then later by Bob McKenzie.
Only 30 copies of each issue of the early issues were published.
It was revamped and edited by Al Smith for several years, circa 1981/1990. The eighties version began as a quarterly, but quickly became bi-monthly. Printing was courtesy of local Magic dealer and Sheffield Circle member, Russell Hall.
The editor was the major writer and contributor of the eighties' incarnation, but from time to time he managed to persuade the membership to contribute. Occasional non-member contributors included Paul Hallas, Alan Goodall (Henrique) and Peter Kane.
Issues
The first series ran for only 3 months, Volume 1, Numbers l,2,&3 dated March, April and May/June 1923.
The next series did not appear until May/June 1936 (Vol. 1 # 1). It ran Vol. 1 # 1 thru 5, Vol. 2 # 1 thru 6.
Another series was started in the 1950s. This was the Bob McKenzie period.
