Sleight of Hand first appeared in serial form with "Bazaar Exchange & Mart" at the same time Modern Magic was being published elsewhere. [1]

The book version was first produced in two parts; Part 1, Drawing Room Magic; Part 2, Grand or Stage Magic. It was then reissued in the same year in one volume and there is also a rare De Luxe Edition (1877).

A paragraph on " Anti-Spiritualism " was not printed in the book.[2]
