Robert Brown (1817-1927) was an amateur magician, who studied with the Hopi Indians, and served during the Civil War, from August 22, 1861, to September 8, 1864.[1]

Colonel Brown's grandfather was a Hopi Indian chieftain and in his youth had been spent time with the tribe. It was with these people that Brown learned to do magic and for more than 100 years magic was his hobby.[2]
