Chas. F. Hiestand (1878-?) from St. Louis, Missouri performed magic and hypnotism as "Hiestand The Great."

Biography

He well versed in electricity, machinery, photography and music. He started on his career by studying for the ministry, but eventually magic to over. He was a pupil of Sylvain A. Lee, the eminent hypnotist.

Hiestand was the organizer and first president of the Society of St. Louis Magicians and also the first St. Louis member of the Society of American Magicians.[1] He was also the Society of St. Louis Magicians correspondent for the Combined Magical Club Bulletin.

One of the last mentions of Hiestand in the Sphinx was in the May, 1921 issue reporting that he and several other St. Louis magicians were invited by Carl Rosini to visit him when he was in town performing.

His brother, John W. Hiestand was often his assistant and served as secretary for the Society of St. Louis Magicians.
