John Blackledge (1891-1961) was a semi-professional who worked in clubs and private parties specializing in cards and close-up effects.

Biography

He received his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the first World War as Battalion Radio Officer in France.

After getting out of the Army in 1919, Blackledge practiced architecture in Indianapolis until 1924, but still keeping abreast of magic, developing his talent as pupil of stage magician Edward Maro. He lived in Indianapolis, but would spend his summers in Leland, Michigan.

He performed numerous times for Franklin Roosevelt.
