Bill Derman (b.1916-d.1997), a television writer and game show creator, was very active in magic and wrote many articles for magic publications since 1950.
Biography
He started in show business by teaming with a fellow Snag Werris, writing for many stars including Milton Burl, Sid Caesar, and Sherry Lewis.
In the 1950's Derman moved into creating and writing game shows such as Beat the Odds, Supper Market and Word for Word.[1]
He was an active member of Hollywood Los Magico and the S.A.M. Derman was a charter member of the Magic Castle and could regularly be found there with friends Jay Ose, Snag Werris, and later Dai Vernon.
His brother Lou also became well known at the Castle and was often called "Friday Night Lou". Bill's son took up magic and as a teenager adopted the name Nate the Great and for many years worked every Sunday the Magic Castle.
