St. Roman (b.1829-d.1918), born Samuel Thiersfeld in Austria-Hungary, abandoned being a pastry cook for a life of music and magic in 1857.
Biography
He was a violinist and his act consisted of magic, celebrities impersonations and music. A pupil of Hofzinser, he was doing the Card through Handkerchief effect by 1897.[1]
