Arnold Belais (1890-1973), a life insurance agent in New York City, served on many SAM committees and was the organizer of "The Imps", a magic club for young people.[1][2]

Belais joined SAM (Parent Assembly) in 1910 as member No. 414[3] He specialized in "Jumbo Magic" and invented a number of magical effects and constructs his own apparatus having been trained in his earlier years as a watch-maker and jeweler like[4] He was known for his The Multiplying Pipes and Smoke Up Sleeve.

He performed in many of the principal hospitals and institutes in New York City. When not performing, he worked with the 'Amateur Actors' League of America, in charge of the Magical Department and the Amateur Player , the official organ of the League.[5]
