Karr, "the Mysterious" (?-1930) was a professional magician and escape artist in South Africa.

Biography

He performed hanging strait-jacket escapes, jumps eight feet onto a pile of broken glass and an "Inquisition" packing case escape and disappearance.

One of his publicity stunts was getting out of a strait jacket escape while an automobile was speeding towards him. He would make his escape in time to get out of the way.

Karr died while performing his strait jacket escape when he was too slow getting out and had suffered a heart attack from the adrenaline, the automobile passed over him, killing him instantly. [1]

He was IBM No. 3308[2] and was a charter member of the South Africa Ring No. 54.[3]
