[[User:Jpecore]] - Thanks for sending me the nice welcome to MAGICPEDIA over on my own Talk Page.  Appreciate it.
As for my modest, little art and collectibles business --- we did have shops, first one in Alexandria for several years in the Mount Vernon Antique Center on Richmond Hwy, then later moved to one on Liberia Ave. in Manassas in an Antiques Mall for a little over a year.  Currently we're operating mostly on-line, and even that has been somewhat dormant for several months of late, due to family obligations, often on short notice, that have called us out-of-town frequently to Upstate New York. If, and when, we do crank back up, or revive our business in a shop or booth somewhere, I'll let you know.  I've edited my User Page to avoid suggesting that we currently have a store-front shop open.  Thanks again for your nice welcome to MAGICPEDIA.  I've always enjoyed having its resources available, and am really having fun now, getting more engaged as a registered user/editor. == Paul M. Siegel ==
Dear Mr. Pecore,
Paul M. Siegel is my great-great uncle. I have photographs, letters, a newspaper article about him written in 1949, his past president medal for the SAM Chicago division, as well as a extremely odd painting of him painted by his son in 1948. If you would like any information or resources, please reply. By the way may I see the resources you used for the article? I’m trying to make a compilation of my family’s history.
From,
John4040

Distorted statistics

I'm starting to wonder if the PH-template is such a good idea...

The statistics at the "Most linked-to pages" are now extremely skewed and distored: http://geniimagazine.com/wiki/index.php/Special:MostLinkedPages

For example, Portable Smoke looks like an extremely important piece of magic history, since it has 115 pages that links to it. Paul Harris effects not included in AoA is equally impressive.

But all of those links are from the PH-template. Take away those, and Portable Smoke has no links at all. Isn't it desirable that the statistics should reflect only "real" and natural linkage?

Is it possible to change something in the PH-template, so that it doesn't distort the statistics? Or in the whole template function, so that links in a template doesn't affect statistical results?

Just curious. TStone 08:46, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

I'm wondering if that is why Wikipedia has turned that special page turned off: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MostLinkedPages. I'll look into more and see. Joe P. 13:18, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, and one more thing

Whenever I direct my browser to a MagicPedia page with a foreign character (e.g. Gibecière), it directs me to https://geniimagazine.com/account/

I can get to the page for Gibecière by going to Gibeciere, though...

I've seen that too. I think it's something on the Genii server blocking it. I sent an email to the admin.
I took a look around myself and think I fixed it (let me know), but need to verify with admin that my fix is not breaking something else on Genii servers.

Disambiguations

Joe, is there a standard system you've set up for handling ambiguities? If not, can you install the "hatnote" template? Examples: Magic by Gosh is the name of a Goshman DVD, a book, and his company. For another topic (I don't remember what...), I used "Title" for one usage and "Title (book)" for another (or maybe it was "Title (year)"?). Just wanted to get on the same page... Roatc 09:06, 24 January 2015 (EST)

See MagicPedia:Disambiguation. We basically follow the Wikipedia model.
OK, thanks. Is it possible to install the hatnote template? Roatc 11:29, 24 January 2015 (EST)
Not sure about getting hatnote. See if other templates like Template:otheruses will work for now.
Easier then I thought. template:hatnote is ready. Thank you... Roatc 13:21, 24 January 2015 (EST)

Also, can you please redirect The Award-Winning Magic of John Cornelius to The Award Winning Magic of John Cornelius. Too long again... Roatc 11:29, 24 January 2015 (EST)

done ...and thank you again! Roatc 13:21, 24 January 2015 (EST)
and thank you for all the work you have been doing! Joe P. 13:22, 24 January 2015 (EST)

Title too long again

Can you redirect Maurice Fogel: In Search of the Sensational to Maurice Fogel (book). Better yet, rename Maurice Fogel (book) to Maurice Fogel: In Search of the Sensational. I would have named it that myself but it was too long. Is there any way to override this so I don't have to keep bugging you about it? Roatc 18:54, 24 January 2015 (EST)

It's done to stop spamming (spammers like to put really long titles). I'll look to see if I can get on the server to bump up the limit some day, but I don't mind doing them in the mean time though. Joe P. 19:08, 24 January 2015 (EST)
Found where it was done and increased the length to 80 characters. Let me know if you think it needs to be longer

Weird behavior with accented letters in title?

Going to this page sends me to the Genii account pages: Les Tricheries des grecs dévoilées

By visiting the page through a redirect it works though: Les Tricheries des grecs devoilees (note the lack of accented letters)

I've seen that before. I'll take a look and try to fix again. Thanks! Joe P. 16:56, 3 May 2015 (EST)
