Victor Selden, born in New York City to a family of professional performers, was a student of law, magician and collector.
It was reported on the cover story of November, 1901 issue of Mahatma that he was practicing hypnotism, card and coin manipulation and made a specialty of mind-reading performances. He was a gifted musician able to play a variety of unusual instruments including the Arch of Chimes, Mandolin, Musical Coins and Glasses and the Zither.
