Homer S. Woodworth (1842-1941) was a traveling magician during the Civil War era.[1]
Biography
Woodworth began professional magic at the age of 13 when he joined a circus. He later became an assistant to Signor Blitz.
When the Civil War began Woodworth enlisted and served with the Indiana Volunteers. After the war was ended he again began touring as a magician.
During the great fire of Chicago in 1871, he lost his entire show. It took him a year before he got a new show together to resumed his tours. [2]
He retired to Omaha, Nebraska around 1900 and spent the late few years of his life in San Diego.[3][4]
A photo of him can be seen at the Conjuring Arts' online exhibit "The Many Faces of Magic"[5][6]
