Ray Hafler, a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, joined the IBM in 1929. He retired from the Navy after 24 years in 1958 and took up a second career with the Municipal Courts of Long Beach.
Hafler's interest in magic began as a young boy and was influenced by the work of S. S. Henry and Thurston.
He was a member IBM Ring 96 (Long Beach), which he served as president; the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians; the S.A.M.; the Magic Circle (London), the Magic Castle (Hollywood); and the Psychic Entertainers Association.
