John Fabjance (b. 1936) was the owner of magic shop called Fabjance Studios located in Bathalto, Illinois near St. Louis. He edited his house organ Legerdemain (1977-1981) which lasted for 41 issues.

Biography

Performing as an amateur magician since high school, Fabjance briefly toured with The Great Blackstone as a member of the crew during his freshman year at college. He left the tour to complete his degree in education, but continued performing as a part-time magician to provide extra income and appeared on many local and national television programs including The Jackie Gleason Show, Circus, Circus and You Asked For It!

After college, Fabjance taught English, speech, theater and stage-craft to every level of students, while continuing to perform and invent tricks in his spare-time. He designed props and illusions for Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, The Ice Capades, Six Flags, Knotts Berry Farm and Disneyland.

He moved to the Chicago area and eventually left the teaching profession to perform as a full-time professional magician.
