Andrew MacAllister
Born1800
Edinburgh, Scotland
DiedSeptember 1956

Andrew MacAllister, originally a carpenter's joiner or bricklayer, learned magic by assisting Phillippe around 1836. He later apprenticed with John Henry Anderson and then toured on own.

He moved to USA in the late 1840s where he was fairly successful.[1]

His costume was a combination of those worn by Phillippe, Dobler, and Heimburger. A picture of Macallister in costume appeared in Gleasons Weekly, November 1, 1851.

He was elected into the Society of American Magicians Hall of Fame.

J. M. Macallister (John Mawr) claimed to be a relative and to have been born in Ayre, Scotland.[2]
