Dr. Emil Bories, an amateur magician in Seattle, Washingtonian, had a very extensive medical practice holding several offices in medical societies, and with insurance and railroad companies.
He became interested in magic at the age of eight after seeing John Henry Anderson and then was acquainted with the German magician Hasselmeyer from whom he learned some magic. He then attempted to learn the watchmaker's trade, but later studied medicine, graduating in 1885 from the Vermont College of Medicine..
Bories invented a number of tricks including many in chemical magic, and performed at lodges, churches and schools.
He was a regular correspondent from Seattle for the Sphinx.[1]
