Arthur (Art) Emerson (1928-2018) was a mail-order dealer/publisher with Larry West , specializing in packet tricks. [1]

Biography

Emerson's magic interest began in 1937 when he received an A. C. Gilbert Magic Set. He was later inspired by the magic of L. Raymond Cox, Myrus and the big shows of Harry Blackstone.

He received a Bachelor of Military Arts and Science, from the University of Maryland, Heidelberg, Germany. He served in the United States Arm from 1950 until retiring in 1971 as a Colonel. Harry Swan invited Emerson to join his U.S.O. camp Show as a magician and actor.

In 1967, he met Larry West in Washington D.C. and within a year they formed "Emerson & West" presenting original ideas for sale at Don Tanners' Magic-Fest in Columbus, Ohio.The first effect which they marketed, Color Monte is still their biggest single items, selling over 125,000 copies.

Over the years Emerson & West produced over 50 magic items.[2]
