Harold Chandler (?-1992) had a continuous association with the Waikato Society of Magicians and Waikato Magic Circle, going back to its original formation as a branch of the New Zealand Society of Magicians in 1939, and founded the Magicana magazine in 1953.[1]

Biography

Throughout the years Harold held many positions in the Waikato Magic Circle, including that of President on several occasions. Along with his wife Maude, he was a regular at New Zealand magicians gatherings.

Chandler, a skilled craftsman, made magical equipment under the "Chandu Products" name. He was also a published author of Chandu’s Magical Varieties published by Hades in 1970.

He established Magicana magazine in 1953 and served as editor for the first two years.

Chandler also enjoyed movie making, and was successful both as an administrator and director.[2]

Awards and honors

The Waikato Magic Circle made him an Honorary life member and arranged for Chandler to be made the fifth recipient of the Grand Master of Magic Award.
