Magicops

Magicops was an organization for law enforcement officers that were also amateur magicians.[1]

Founded by John Weiss, a patrolman of New York City, the first meeting was held in Plainfield, New Jersey in 1947. Their meetings usually coincided with the annual M.A.E.S. convention.

Members have included Audley Walsh, Chet Karkut, J. Russell Duck, and Fred Lowe

The were at least four Magicops Parades of submitted effects in the Linking Ring. The fourth being in the January 1954 issue.

Their official periodical, a monthly called The Magicopper, which was edited by Officer Weiss and ran from September, 1947 to March 1954.

They became inactive some time around 1960.
