The National Theatre is located in Washington, D.C. and is a venue for a variety of live stage productions with seating for 1,676. Despite its name, it is not a government funded national theater, but operated by a private, non-profit organization. It opened in 1835.

Located three blocks from The White House, the theatre has entertained every man who has been U.S. President since Andrew Jackson.

  • 1853 - Novelty acts appeared including a troupe of Chinese magicians, the Ravels with their aerial acrobatics and Professor Anderson, "The Great Wizard of the North", who lectured on witchcraft, demonology, and spiritualism.
