The Outlook on Magic was the official Magic Periodical of the secret organization Council of Nine, which began publishing by Hugh MacKay (prior to the formation of the council) in March 1927. Issue No. 3 (October, 1927) bore the news of the foundation of The Council of Nine.

Topics were debated by the council by correspondence and the results published in the magazine.

The topics that were debated and later published in The Outlook were Coloured Hand Shadows, Confederacy, The 12 Best Books on Magic, Publicity in Magic, and Selected Mysteries (three magical effects which mystified the members most when they first witnessed them.

In issue No. 4, the nationality of the members were published as being from the United States, England and Scotland.

There were eight, irregularly appearing, issues through February, 1932.[1]
