Abril Lamarque (1904-1999), "the Smiling Latin from Manhattan", was a prominent amateur magician in New York City.
Biography
Lamarque was an art director-designer in the publishing field.[1] He worked as an artist for The New York Times and later as an art director for several national magazines.
He joined the Parent Assembly No. 1 of the SAM in 1933. Lamarque left New York for Washington, D.C. in 1945[2] He created magical effects and preferred to ad-lib is patter.[3] He became the principal artist for Hugard's Magic Monthly when it started out.
