Alberti (fl. 1860s-1870s) was a professional card magician in French provinces during the later half of the 19th century. He is usually credited with being the first to perform the Ambitious Card routine.
Biography
He also claims to have invented the Rising Cards from a tumbler held in his hand.[1]
Robert-Houdin mentions Alberti in his daily journals (Tablettes journalieres) on November 25, 1865: "[The Priory] At one o'- clock a conjurer name Alberti came to see me; he is very skillful with cards and stayed until 5 o'clock."[2]
