Margery became interested in conjuring as a young teenager as his father was a student of magic and scientific amusements. His first performance was in 1887, and 10 years later embarked upon his career as a 'society entertainer.'
He became friends with Ellis Stanyon, with whom he maintained a close association for his entire life.
