Axel P. Johnson (1886-?) was an amateur magician, newspaper editor, lawyer and legislator.
Biography
Johnson grew up in Illinois and attended Millikin University. He worked as a night shift as an Associated Press telegrapher, a career which began at age 15, which made him the the youngest AP operator of record at the time.
He later worked as as city editor of the Roswell, New Mexico, Morning News and on the editorial staff of the Associated Press in the Rocky Mountain Bureau in Denver, Colorado.
He also found time to attend Westminister Law School and was elected, in 1923 to the Colorado legislature.
"A. P." served four years as assistant district attorney of Washoe County, Nevada, when gambling became legalized in that state in 1931.
He was a charter member of the Reno Assembly No. 28 in 1936.
His preference was with mental effects, and once did a one-man "Dunninger" show at Stead Air Base in Reno.
Johnson served as PCAM president in 1957 and later as their legal adviser.[1]
