Ball and Vase is an apparatus used to vanish and produce a ball which has become a standard effect in children magic sets going back to the 1860s.

Described in books as early as Sports and Pastimes by anonymous (1676) and The Whole Art of Legerdemain, or Hocus Pocus in Perfection by Henry Dean (1722).
