Biography

He became interested in magic after his mother had taken him to Detroit to see Blackstone, Sr.

Downey launched his professional career in the early 1950's in Windsor, his hometown. It took him throughout North America, appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show and a tour of Playboy clubs. Other tours took him from Africa to the Arctic. He traveled for 10 years with an entertainment troupe jointly sponsored by the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. and Canadian Armed Forces.

Downey moved to Detroit around 1962.

He was killed in a head-on car collision while returning to his Detroit home after an engagement in Ann Arbor.[2]
