Dr. Bob Escher (1941-2013) served as International President of the I.B.M. in 2001-02.
Biography
A retired orthodontist, he enjoyed performing close-up, parlor, and stage. He also served in the Navy for two years active duty and was a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve.
Escher was introduced to magic at a young age from watching a magic show performed by Sherrell Nunnelley. Nunnelley was instrumental in teaching and being a close friend. Other magicians who mentored him include Harry Collins,Paul Diamond and Del Ray. He then worked with Lance Burton, Mac King, and Steve Bargatze.
He had been a member of the I.B.M. for over three decades (inducted into the Order of Merlin in 2002). Escher served on numerous committees in the I.B.M. including the Ballot Committee, Convention Committee, Executive Committee, and the Endowment and Development Foundation Committee . He was Territorial V.P. for Kentucky for years, and served 20 years as president of Okito/Burton Ring 64.[1] He also is a member of SAM Assembly 215 in Louisville.
Escher lost his battle with cancer after seventeen years.
