[[C. Lang Neil]] (? - ?) was born Charles Lang Neil in England. Neil was an author, literary agent, journalist, advertising agent and publisher. He was never a performer himself, but was married to a lady magician whom performed as "Mademoiselle Patrice". She was a student of [[Charles Bertram]]. His non-magic writings reflected his interest in travel and adventure. He wrote [[The Modern Conjurer]] which was one of the earliest magic books to use photographs, over 500 of them. Neil was not the first to use photographs to illustrate a magic book, but he was the first to use them to convey body language and hand movements. C.
