His most popular was the Nickels To Dimes effect invented by his friend Walter Gibson.

Carl retired in 1932, but his son Bill carried on for some time until sold to George Krinog after Carl's death.

The book The Brema Brasses by Richard Buffum tells the story behind Carl and his son. It expands on some of the famous brass effects including "Nickels to Dimes" and the "Bill and Card Tubes". It also contains information on many notable conjurers like Goldin, Kellar, Houdini and Thurston.

Original Brema apparatus and catalogs are very collectible today.

There was also Bill Brema, associated with Kanter's Magic Shop, who passed away on November 2, 1948 from a heart attack while at work. He was 62 years old.
