Carlyle (1906, October 26, 1996) was born Lyle F. Laughlin in Oakdale, California. He worked numerous odd jobs and served in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Navy before becoming a professional performer in the late 1920's, using the stage name Carlyle. He performed his stage act around the United States in auditoriums, hotels and supper clubs throughout the Depression.

He retired from performing in 1954, settling down to raise his kids, operating a successful camera repairing business in Oakland, California.

His wife and assistant, Wanda, was a past officer of International Magigals. She passed away in 1982.
