Charles Edwin Fields (May 15, 1835 - 1912), born in London, appeared before Royalty and instructed hundreds of people in the magic art.

In those days, magical literature was sparse, and Professor Fields obtained large sums of money from wealthy amateurs for the secrets of tricks.[1]
