Professor Cushing Strout has a Ph.D. from Harvard University in American Studies and had an endowed chair in that field at Cornell University until 1989 when he retired. He became interested in magic as a boy when he saw Harry Blackstone Sr., then later began performing at clubs, hotels, occasionally for the USO during WWII, and more recently for fund-raising causes and parties of friends. In 2005, his first book of card magic was released by the Toronto publishing house, I Saw That!, a collection of tricks called On the Other Side of the Mirror.
