The Cut Deeper Force is a method for forcing a card. How it looks: Place the deck face down and ask the spectator to cut off a small portion, turn it face up and replace it on top. Now, ask the spectator to cut off a larger portion of the deck, turn it face up and replace it on top again. Ask the spectator to spread the cards and slide out the first face-down card that appears.

History

There is a description of this force in Hugard's Magic Monthly, Vol. 6, No. 8, January 1949, page 501 in Roundabout with Fred Braue under the trick Little Card Rise, but not attributed to Ed Balducci.

This force was inspired by the 203rd Force (aka Chirst Force) from Sh-h-h-h---! It's a Secret (1934, p. 41) by Henry Christ. Karl Fulves, in Prolix (No. 4, Aug. 2008, p. 270) points out a precursor in Sam Mayer's “Another Do as I Do”, in the Sphinx (Vol. 45 No. 5, July 1946, p. 143).

Another description appears in Hugard's Magic Monthly, Vol. 14, No. 6, November, 1956, page 502 under the trick The All Fair Coincidence by Ed Balducci and Ken Krenzel.

In Marlo Meets his Match (1959), page 18, we can read : "The work of this routine... was inspired by the use of a well known Cut Force as applied to a Do As I Do routine by Balducci and Krenzel..."
