BornDaniel W. Dew
December 25, 1906
Yazoo city, Mississippi
DiedSeptember 26, 1996 (age 89)

He began his career as a song and dance man. In 1922, relocating to St. Louis, Missouri, he teamed up with another performer to work the vaudeville circuit. He encountered magician Charles Lindhorst and soon abandoned the musical field for conjuring.

He studied with Lindhorst, and then went on the road working under several professional names. He alternated his magic performances at various times as a head chef for a number of upscale hotels.

At the end of the 1920s he moved to Colorado, where he met Melba Keeling (c.1911-2012). She would become his wife and partner, for well over 60 years, joining the act doing sand and rag paintings. They toured the midwest, primarily doing school assembly shows. He would form friendships with many sleight of hand experts including Dai Vernon, Charlie Miller, Faucett Ross and Cardini.

He settled in Phoenix, Arizona in 1944 where he opened a magic shop manufacturing props. He also started a show business booking agency and a catering service.
