Del Cartier (1918-2006) worked as a professional magician, appearing in various theaters and clubs throughout the U.S. and Canada, specializing in card and cigarette manipulations.

Biography

Cartier arrived in the U.S. with his parents when he was less than one year old. He grew up in Philadelphia, where in high school he became interested in magic. He typically opened his act with Oswald Rae's "Burglar Trick". Del's mentor was Paul Rosini and Del closed his act with the Thumb Tie, which Rosini had taught him.

In 1941 he joined the army where he served as a First Lieutenant in special services attached to General Patton's 3rd Army. When the war ended, Del settled in New York with his wife, Rhoda, where he pursued a business career in the textile industry.

He continued to enjoy magic and was a member of exclusive magic clubs.[1]
