Elastic Lady

Elastic Lady (or Stretching a Woman) is a stage illusion where the head, feet, and hands of an assistant placed in a cabinet are stretched apart to unnatural distances.

Invented by P.T. Selbit, it premiered by him as "The Elastic Girl" on January 17, 1921 in London.


Other notable performers have been Nicola in 1926, Tampa in 1927, Dante in 1927, Carter the Great in 1927, Harry Thurston in 1931, Will Rock in 1941, and Rooklyn in 1946.[1]


Kirk Kirkham presented it on the You Asked for It television show in 1957.
