Eric de la Mare

Eric de la Mare ( 1901? - September 9, 1957) was a Civil Engineer spending much of his life abroad. He lived in Ceylon for 24 years, where he met up with and spend time with Max Malini.

Finding time on his hands, he gravitated to an engineering job in London, where he would have lunchtime meetings with Roy Walton, John Derris and Alex Elmsley.

Eric was also part of a small group of magical neighbors in the 1950s that got together, meeting once a month at each others houses. Named "The Six", the original members were Eric, Peter Warlock, Jack Avis, Dr. Nicholls Harley, Francis Haxton and Brian McCarthy.

In 1955, Eric became the Magic Circle's Chairman of the Committee responsible for the event to be commemorate its Golden Jubilee.

He bequeathed his collection of books and periodicals on Magic to The Magic Circle.
