Foster Lardner (1873-1934) was an actor, amateur magician for twenty years the head of the Keith organization in and around Providence, Rhode Island.[1]

Biography

A graduate University of Wisconsin, he was taught magic by Al Baker. Lardner was a non-resident member of the SAM Parent Assembly in New York City. [2][3] He was Manager of the Albee Theatre at Providence. and a member of the National Conjurers' Association Ring No. 2 in Rhode Island.

During the late World War he gave frequent magical entertainments for the soldiers in hospitals and later gave shows in the children's hospital of Providence. [4]

Lardner was the stage manager for the SAM, Carnival of Magic (1931) which featured Cardini, Jarrow and Hardeen.

His magic performance entitled "Behind the Scenes with the Master Magicians" for the children at the Crawford Allen Hospital at Potowomut, near Providence was reported in the Providence "Journal" (1934).[5]

A few months later, Lardner was stricken with a heart attack and died on the stage while performing magic before the Providence Engineering Society at the age of sixty-two.[6]
