Frederick M. Shields was an amateur magician and co-columnist of "Double Daring" with Bascom Jones in Genii for many years.[1]

He received a degree in theater arts from San Diego State College and had acting assignments on both radio and television. He was an announcer at stations in San Diego and Los Angeles. For a number of years, during the early 1940's, he wrote the Lamplighter column in the Daily News in Los Angeles. For 17 years, he was with CBS radio and television as a Production Supervisor, retiring in 1970.

A sleight-of-hand magician, he attended many magic conventions.

Shields was member number three of the Magic Castle and served on its board as treasurer.[2]
