Gilbert Genesta was an escape artist who died performing a water barrel escape.

He first became interested in magic about 1890 when he witnessed a school house show m Foxburg, Pennsylvania. He went on to perform professionally as Genesta, the wizard of wonders.

Genesta died while performing when he became trapped in a barrel of water during his "escape artist" act at a vaudeville theater at Frankfort, Kentucky.

He was IBM no. 2245.[1]
