Gordon Hoener (b. 1931), also known as Von Hoenir, performed as a mentalist in the St. Louis area.
Biography
Hoener became interested in magic as a young boy in 1945. He learned to do chalk talk and later mentalism, after seeing performers like Mardoni and Louis.
He served in Korea and afterwards work for A. G. Edwards. He still did the occasional mentalism and magic shows for civic organizations. He would become a good friend of David Hoy.
In 1980, Hoener quit A. G. Edwards to do mentalism and cold readings full time, working in such locations as the St. Louis Playboy Club and the Chase Hotel's Steeple Chase Club. Hoener also set up haunted house parties in St. Louis and other haunted houses around the country. In 1965 Hoener helped start "Haunt Hunters" an organization designed as a central clearing house for spirit information from around the world.
He also wrote a column for the now defunct St. Louis Globe Democrat as the great "Von Hoenir."[1]
Hoener is a member of Psychic Entertainers Association and the S.A.M.[2]
