Gustave Fasola (1870 - 1929), a British magician, toured Australia from 1911-1912 as "The famous Indian Fakir".
Biography
He invented the Lady to Lion Illusion, first used by Howard Thurston in 1909. He also devised an Appearing Elephant stage illusion which he sold to Thurston who had it built but never ended up performing it because of difficulties in traveling with such a large animal.
